Roman City is placed in the midle of Moldavian highlands , in Neamt county, Romania, at the confluence of Siret and Moldova river, and has the coordinates 46055' N latitude, 26055' E longitude. First mention is in ,,Letopisetul Novgorodului “ document, from 1387 . The first written document about Roman is a donation document from 30 of March 1392 . The name of the city is from the ruler Roman I Musat, the founder of the city. The most representative museums of the city are :
Museum of History from Roman
Museum of History was settled at 1 of September 1957. Today, Roman’s History museum has over 170.000 pieces, being one of largest museum in the country. The basic exhibition is organized in 15 rooms, with over 700 sqm. and encompasses over 5.000 pieces, from Stone period to the First World War We remark the famous thesaurus from Brad belonging to Cucuteni culture which has more than 480 jewelery pieces.
Museum of Arts from Roman
Museum open the activity in 1957 in a very modest way. It starts from a single picture "Stefan cel Mare" realized in 1884 by Epaminondra Bucevschi, for the Bishop of Roman, Melchisedec Stefanescu. At the beginning it was a section of Museum of history. From 1970, Museum of Art was moved in a new building at str. Mihai Eminescu, nr. 3, surrounded by a very generous landscape. Collections of museum gather 642 paintings, graphics, and sculptures, decorative arts, partially exhibited in 6 display rooms, which have 243 sqm.
Museum of Natural Science from Roman
Museum was established in 1960, by reorganizing the temporary exhibition belonging to the Museum of History and by hiring a naturalist museographer. The strong development of the museum started in 1960 when The Museum of natural science from Adjud was moved to Roman, which will continue to exist like as a single entity. It has an exhibition space of 260 sqm. The main exhibition displays geographical frame, paleontology and pedology of Roman area, different types of flowers and animals.
