Mathematics mean score in 2003 was in Romania 475, whreas in Slovak Republic 508, Hungary 529, Bulgaria 476, International average 466, Lithuania 502. Romania poor performance relative to its neighbours and new partners in the EU is even more worrying when set against low levels of enrollments in secondary and tertiary education. Romanian Goverment and Educational system seems to be helpless.
